Prayer Project - Through the self-portraits in my series Prayer Project, I explore modes, definitions and images of what we choose to call “prayer”. In these works, I examine the archetypal, stereotypical, cultural and personal concepts and iconography of prayer. In my self-portraits, tension is created through the depiction of private moments of intense contemplation, subjected to the viewer’s public and voyeuristic gaze.  In these images, I explore issues of identity and dualities: loss and redemption; vulnerability and power; suffering and reprieve; joy and pain; fear and safety; and anxiety and serenity.
